Growing Regions

We source all of our Asparagus from The Tender Tips Company. Tender Tips is located in the Horowhenua district of New Zealand. Tender Tips grows the finest export quality asparagus on high fertile alluvial soils between the Tararua Ranges and the Tasman Sea. The area's climate is ideal for asparagus to thrive and grow into sweet, tender spears.  

Varieties

Freshco’s brand of Asparagus is Tender Tips. Tendertips asparagus is grown under the Greengro sustainable growing practice.

Specifications

We specialise in supplying supermarket programmes, packing our Asparagus to meet customer requirements, we mostly bundle the product. These come in 100gm bundles or 120gm bundles and then are packed in natural wooden boxes of either 6.5kg (65 x100gm bundles) or fluted plastic cartons, 3kg (30 x 100gm bundles). We also offer loose Asparagus in 6.5kg cartons. The computerised grading equiptment, specially developed by Tender Tips and Palmerston North's Massey University, grades the asparagus to a very high degree, producing very accurate bunch weights and very even spear sizes. This, along with highly skilled staff, produces a high quality bunch that has excellent appeal on the supermarket shelf. 

Our export asparagus is treated with the unique Green Tech Hot Water process.
