Background
Cherries have been grown in since the 1920's. In fact a family member of the freshco team, was the first to grow Cherries in New Zealand.
Growing Regions
Freshco Cherries are grown in Central Otago. It is one of the most spectacular areas in New Zealand with amazing rock formations and incredible scenery.
This area has a climate of cold winters and hot summers making it ideal for cherry production. These conditions are ideal for winter chilling to encourage good bud initiation, also the heat of the Otago summer encourages high sugar levels, producing the quality finish expected of a top export crop.
Our cherry growers use a specific, sustainable eco friendly, integrated pest and disease management system. This programme allows us to export our cherries world wide.
